about
'Turn This Train Around' represents the moment joy pierced through my sorrow and the moment it felt good to dance again. A year before writing it, I experienced a rough breakup after nearly a decade together, compounded by the shared home we owned during the pandemic. Healing doesn't always come from time alone; it's found in new experiences, people, and perspectives. Sometimes, all it takes is opening a window - for me, that window was my MPC drum pad and bass guitar.
lyrics
I rolled up to the party
Got the flavor that I need
I was caught up in the past
But you tore it out of me
Oh lord, thank god, what I’m trying to say is
Baby I was broken, been learning how to bleed
I’m trying to thank you
It was so overwhelming babe, I couldn't even speak
You turned this train around
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
Everybody started rolling, baby
Flavor of the week
You turned this train around
Thought I was mistaken when you laid your eyes on me
I appreciate your patience
With my anxiety
I’m trying to thank you
Seems you had me cornered babe
But then you set me free
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
All the wars will be forgotten
The sun will fade to grey
Snow will fall in summer
Signatures will fade
Though the world is getting warmer
Don’t forget to feel the breeze
Life is surely fleeting
It has moments you should seize
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
Good god, where did I go
A deep dark pool in a deep dark hole
But it seems the time has come
Life is moving on
You turned this train around
